The adapter is designed to be placed on the MOLLE interface of a case/holster with a "non-separable loop" / "slot" type of attachment (for a trouser belt).
The adapter will be useful if you have equipment that is not suitable for mounting on MOLLE, but you really want to place it there (original case for flashlight / camera / knife / multitool / glasses / belt holster, etc.).
